TERAC · ENGINEER

The supply layer for human labor.

Terac is the expert labor MCP: the supply layer for human work in a world where AIs run companies and call on people on demand. Agent-run companies won’t need employees, but they’ll still need people. Terac is a panel of verified experts, doctors, engineers, lawyers, operators, parents, hobbyists, plus an AI moderator that screens, interviews, and verifies any of them on demand. Companies integrate via API to source the exact human they need, route the work, and pay out automatically on verified completion.

The team

Why they built it.

When they started Terac, Zac and Jack spent months talking to researchers across UXR, market research, and AI to find where the industry was breaking down. One theme came up constantly: finding high-quality participants and experts is still far too hard, and it only matters more as AI moderators and AI-native workflows raise the bar for participant quality. Researchers need verified expertise, not just completed screeners. That’s why they built Terac.

The Terac team at their booth during Research Week
Research WeekTerac brought the whole engineering team out to Research Week. Many of them spent the past year building the expert-verification, screening, fraud-detection, scheduling, and recruitment systems behind the product, and finally got to meet the researchers and participants those systems support, face to face.
01 · What Terac builds

Source the exact human, on demand.

Today humans do most of the world’s work with the help of AI. Soon AI will do most of the work with the help of humans, and the bottleneck won’t be code or capital, but access to the right person at the right moment. Terac is the marketplace that closes that gap.

Verified panel

Experts across every field

Doctors, engineers, lawyers, operators, parents, hobbyists, recruited and verified so you reach real, qualified people.

AI moderator

Screen, interview, verify

An AI moderator screens, interviews, and verifies any expert on demand, over voice, at a scale a human team never could.

API to source

Call a human like a tool

Companies integrate via API to request the exact human they need and route the work, an MCP for expert labor.

Pay on completion

No overhead, just the result

Automatic payout on verified completion. No vendor outreach, no scheduling, no incentive overhead, result returned to your agent or your team.

What you can actually do
  • “Find every cardiologist who has prescribed a GLP-1 in the past 90 days, and ask them why.”
  • “Hire 100 Solidity engineers to label adversarial smart-contract examples for a frontier model.”
  • “Source 200 SMB owners in the EU and interview them about how they’re handling the new VAT rules.”

02 · Why it’s interesting

Stripe-level infrastructure for human capability.

Jobs have been getting shorter for centuries: stone-age hunting was lifelong, the factory was thirty years, an Uber trip is a single ride. As agents take on more of the world’s work, the marketplace that pairs them with humans for the parts they can’t do themselves becomes infrastructure.

The shift

Agents run the company, humans do the parts they can’t

Agent-run companies won’t have employees, but they’ll still need people. Terac is the default interface between AI systems and human expertise.

The bar

Genuinely hard to build

Panel quality, voice moderation, conversational analysis, marketplace dynamics, and trust, the parts that make this defensible.

The traction

Live and growing fast

Companies are already sourcing verified experts through Terac on demand, real usage in production, not a roadmap.

The stage

Founding team, early enough to shape it

A build-the-core hire, not a fill-a-seat one. You’d own systems and set direction as the company scales.

Backed by Emergence · SignalFire · Audacious · SV Angel · Z Fellows. $9M raised.

03 · Open role

What they’re hiring for.

An engineer to build the product and the agent systems behind it, working directly with customers. Hiring manager is Zac, and the timeline is ASAP.

Engineering

Engineer

Senior, product-minded full-stack · high-agency · customer-facing
  • Own product and agent systems end to end, autonomous and high-agency from day one.
  • Work directly with customers, translating what research teams need into what gets built.
  • Bring founder mentality: entrepreneurial, technically cracked, ideally someone who’s taken a swing at building a company.
  • Move fast in an early team and be comfortable putting in the hours to build the core.
